Uber And NVIDIA Partner On AI Technology For Autonomous Cars
Shares of Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE:UBER) are rising in premarket trading on Tuesday after the company announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA). The collaboration is set to enhance AI-powered autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, with both companies aiming to push the development of autonomous driving solutions forward.
The partnership will make use of NVIDIA's advanced platforms, including Cosmos and DGX Cloud. NVIDIA Cosmos is a cutting-edge platform designed to support the creation of physical AI systems, such as robots and self-driving vehicles. By removing barriers related to cost and resources, Cosmos allows developers to build and deploy AI models at scale with ease. Meanwhile, NVIDIA DGX Cloud provides a high-performance, fully managed environment for the development of AI models.
The combination of Uber's extensive mobility data and NVIDIA's AI technology will focus on creating more efficient and scalable AI models for the autonomous driving industry.
"Generative AI will be at the heart of the future of mobility, and it requires both vast data and powerful computational capabilities," said Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. "Through our collaboration with NVIDIA, we are confident we can expedite the development of safe and scalable autonomous driving solutions."
In a keynote at CES 2025, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang forecasted that self-driving vehicles would become "the first multi-trillion-dollar robotics industry."
NVIDIA will also deploy its Drive AGX Orin supercomputer and operating system for advanced driver-assistance systems in the next-generation models of Toyota Motor Corp.
"NVIDIA is bringing over two decades of expertise in automotive computing and safety to revolutionize the multi-trillion-dollar automotive industry," Huang stated.
