On Sunday (January 19), British media outlet BBC reported this information.

The report stated that users in the United States are failing to access the app. They are seeing the message: "Sorry. TikTok services are currently unavailable. A law has been enacted that bans TikTok's operations in the United States. Unfortunately, this means you cannot use TikTok at this time."

There are more than 170 million TikTok users in the United States. However, U.S. lawmakers have long expressed dissatisfaction with its Chinese-owned parent company, ByteDance. The U.S. administration has expressed concerns that the Chinese government could use TikTok for espionage on American citizens.

On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the ruling to ban TikTok in the interest of national security. While respecting the Supreme Court's decision, newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump offered a glimmer of hope for TikTok's future. He assured that a political solution would be sought to keep the app operational.

Reuters reported that Trump is considering issuing an executive order to suspend the sale or ban law for 60 to 90 days. During this period, he aims to find a political solution that would allow the app to continue operating in the United States.

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew thanked Trump for this initiative, stating that his commitment is an important step for freedom of expression.

In addition, Chew urged users in a video message to stand by them in the effort to keep TikTok running.

Meanwhile, TikTok users in various states, including New York, Minnesota, and Michigan, have expressed concern over the announcement of TikTok's ban in the United States. They argue that TikTok is not just an entertainment platform but also a source of income for many. Therefore, its ban would not only harm the users but also have an impact on the U.S. economy.

Business owners and content creators are trying to expand their presence on other platforms, but many believe that the ban on TikTok is a significant setback for them.
